Traveling for work can be exhausting at times, but it can also fuel you with inspiration and ideas. As was the case when visiting the Den Frie Udstillingsbygning in Copenhagen and the great exhibition BECOMING ANIMAL.

BECOMING ANIMAL is curated by Claus Carstensen, who is also a collector and a contributing artist. It’s a thought provoking exhibition that brutally and forcefully connects animalisation throughout the history of art to the use of negatively charged animal metaphors in contemporary rhetoric. It’s a highly complex installation full of cross-references and intertextual connections that probably need multiple visits to be fully decoded and digested.

It’s only running for one more week, so if you’re around Copenhagen hurry up and go see this inspiring exhibition at Den Frie. The catalogue will finally be out beginning May. Can’t wait!

As for humans, God tests them so that they may see that they are like the animals. Surely the fate of human beings is like that of the animals; the same fate awaits them both: As one dies, so dies the other. All have the same breath; human have no advantage over animals. Everything is meaningless.

Ecclesiastes 3: 18-19
