OPEN CLASSES & WORKSHOPS

AboutTeaching is a fundamental part of Michael's artistic identity, and his classes are highly influenced by his experience as a performer. Ever since starting his career as a freelancer in 2009 he has been teaching masterclasses and workshops for dancers with a wide range of backgrounds, giving him the opportunity to research and zoom in on what is essential in a daily practice. The result is a class that is functional and challenging at the same time.
Class DescriptionMichael's training is physical and energetic, blending concepts from sports science with the distinctive qualities of contemporary dance. Rejecting the conventional approach of imposing a specific movement style or prescribing choreography, the class unfolds organically—from guided improvisation to heighten body awareness, to focused bodywork and strength exercises that refine core movement patterns, progressing to more complex sequences, both on and off the floor, with an emphasis on expansive movements and flow.
A key aspect of the training lies in analyzing the logic behind each exercise and movement sequence to optimize both energy efficiency and impact. By refining and automating movement processes within the body, the training fosters a sense of clarity and ease. Ultimately, this creates space for dancers to move beyond technical execution and engage more deeply with the choreographic environment, empowering them to push both creative and physical boundaries.
