Danses de Cour, set to Wagner’s Wesendonck Lieder, one of his greatest masterpieces, mesmerized as poetry in motion. Performed under the open sky in the Cour de l’Agora, the music, interpreted by soprano Julia Varady, moved audiences with its profound beauty. Gat’s dancers, young artists with remarkable sensitivity, created an intimate, emotionally charged atmosphere—delicate yet powerful, and worthy of praise—using only their movement and words as tools.
Danses de Cour unfolds in the evening, once the sun has set into the gentle darkness of this secret, powerful, and magnetic architectural space. [...] The dancers [...] emerge as brilliant performers—always alert, fully immersed in the essence of the work: the body, energetic, explosive, magnetic, galvanized by the reflective body in motion. [...] A fleeting performance that lingers in memory—an imprint of movement and image that marks a festival.
