K3

K3 – Zentrum für Choreographie | Tanzplan Hamburg is a centre for contemporary dance and choreography, artistic research, and dance outreach, located at Hamburg’s Kampnagel.

It was established in 2006/2007 as part of a five-year funding programme by Tanzplan Deutschland – an initiative of the German Federal Cultural Foundation. With its three dance studios and an adjacent studio stage K3 offers various forms of residencies and artistic formats of working that combine artistic research, production, and presentation. A main focus of K3 is to educate, professionalise and promote choreographers and dance professionals in the early stages of their career.

In addition the centre provides dance makers and other professionals in this field with regular courses and professional dance training, workshops and other learning formats. Furthermore K3 offers an extensive outreach and education program for people of all ages with the aim to present contemporary dance as an innovative artistic practice and a socially relevant artistic culture.

Since its foundation, K3 has been playing an essential role as a place for artistic exchange and networking, strengthening the contemporary dance scene in Hamburg while promoting its national and international networks.
