BEETHOVENFEST BONN

Beethoven is one of the most frequently performed composers in the world. Beethovenfest Bonn – which is held in the city of Beethoven’s birth – has accepted the challenge of sharpening a distinctive national and worldwide profile by presenting performances by internationally acclaimed artists and ensembles. To the present day the festival has managed to create dramatic interdisciplinary ties to Beethoven’s past, present and future.

Beethoven was an avant-garde and visionary musician. Beethovenfest Bonn has taken up the course of following his path, particularly by introducing experimental and interdisciplinary concert formats, commissioning new works, performing contemporary music and issuing invitations to promising young artists.

Nike Wagner (the great-great-granddaughter of the composer Franz Liszt, the great-granddaughter of Richard Wagner, and the daughter of Wieland Wagner) has been Intendant (Director General) of the Beethovenfest Bonn since 2014.
